“Fashion fades, style is eternal.” -Yves Saint Laurent

Many people forget that there is a difference between fashion and style. Fashion is all about the season’s latest and most popular trends, both on the runway and on the streets, but style is much more personal. Style distingushes one person from another. We can both rock the same trend, but in our own ways. Style is our signature.

This fall is brighter than ever. We are used to wearing dark and neutral colors in the fall, but by adding neon to our fall wardrobe, we can stand out instead of blending in. I added a bright yellow blazer to my sheer white tank top and sequins shorts to give it that touch of color it lacked. Whether you sport the neon trend with something as simple as a scared or as bold as an oversized sweater, stay true to your style; stay true to you.

It’s finally time to say “adios” to summer in Miami and hello to fall! Since I don’t get to experience lower temperatures and foliage like up north, this past weekend I went to a pumpkin patch to get into the season’s spirit. I love leather in the fall, so I sported a faux leather skort, which I dressed down with a simple graphic tee, open cut leather boots and a black felt hat.

Below I’ve listed some of the this fall’s biggest trends

  • Sixties Swing dresses
  • Velvet
  • Knit Layers
  • Pretty Pastels
  • Red & Dark Berry Colors
  • Fringe
  • Neon Touches

The whole “no white after labor day” rule does not exist in my closet, nor in Miami. The transition to fall hasn’t really struck when the temperatures still peak in the 90s mid day. White is an essential, fresh and elegant color that is easily paired with any pattern, texture and/or color. In the spring, I love pairing my little white dresses with a pop of color, but when it comes to fall I like to keep the look simple and chic (not salty today).

This past Sunday, I took my sisters and a friend out for a late lunch and coffee date. I have a new found obsession with quinoa and limonanas (frozen mint lemonades). I want to feel casual, comfortable and chic, so I paired a simple white pair of shorts and shirt with denim and nude, I love expressing myself through what I wear. It’s the best way to say something without actually saying it.

Always dress to kill.

I Touched the Lawn

I’m home after a beautiful, short weekend in the capital. It was my first time in Washington D.C. and it is absolutely wonderful. It’s crazy to think so many historical people and moments have walked and happened in these streets. I always enjoyed social studies classes. I loved learning about the decisions people made years ago and are currently making affect our daily lives and our future.

The city has its historical atmosphere, but remains contemporary and modern at the same time. The streets of Georgetown were filled with all these cute shops and coffee places. The food was delicious. I was so excited to finally get a Georgetown Cupcake from their original location in Georgetown, but each time I went the line wrapped around the corner. So, I opted for a vegan, chocolate cupcake from Baked and Wired, a local bakery (“Baked”) and coffee (“Wired”) shop.

I got to see the White House and touch it’s perfectly cut, green lawn. Let alone, I was feet and tons of security away from the Oval Office and Obama. The view of the Washington Monument from the Lincoln Memorial was breathtaking. The weather just made everything even more scenic.

I love September in the northeast. On a day like this, sunny and mid 70’s, the weather perfect  for a light jacket and fall hats (which I’m obsessed with). This fall we are seeing a variety of felt hats in different colors and styles. These hats, similar to the one I’m wearing add a Parisian, chic touch to a casual day outfit. They pair perfectly with either pants or a flared skirt. They’re a simple add on to your outfits. I love to wear them with denim and/or leather; simple, edgy and/or elegant.

Traveling the States is always an adventure and I definitely plan on going back to D.C.
