Yes, it’s that time of year: when teddy bears flood the isles, roses multiply by the minute, and chocolate cravings become harder to avoid.

When Valentine’s Day comes around, I love to feel flirty and girly and this look did just that. I felt it was most appropriate for the romantic holiday. There is nothing wrong with being extra, extra feminine.

I’m so happy Valentine’s Day is on a Saturday. It gives you time to brunch, relax, and/or go out at night with the girls or your man. There are so many things to do and so many places to eat on Valentine’s Day, but there is nothing wrong with staying home with your man or girls and a batch of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. So whether you’re going to watch the scandalous Fifty Shades of Grey or replays of the classic The Notebook at home, I hope you all have a Happy Valentine’s Day full of roses and love.

Every season and/or year, my style evolves. I love to experiment and try new things but I always find myself incorporating the classics, like denim & Chanel. There is nothing like a good pair of jeans and of course a Chanel classic flap bag. When it comes to spending money, I always invest in the classics; timeless pieces that can be worn any year or season. Many of the clothes I wear come from more affordable stores such as Zara, H&M, Forever 21, and local boutiques; however, every once in a while I splurge on a good designer handbag, pair of jeans, or shoes. For example, I paired this edgy, pleather floral trimed sweater with a classic Chanel and some denim. It’s simply creating a balance that suits your style and budget. There’s nothing wrong with treating yourself with something you know you will love, use and abuse.

Happy Monday!

Hello February! We usually wait until spring to add some color to our wardrobe, but this season’s color palette has focused mainly on pastel hues. Adding these colors into your wardrobe is easy and can brighten up any look.

Pastels pair perfectly with neutral colors and denim, so I did just that to meet my cousin and sister at Oak Tavern in Miami’s Design District for Happy Hour. I wore an oversized, powder pink blazer with staple pieces that you probably already have in your closet, such as a pair of boyfriend jeans, a white tee and some nude stilettos. Even though these hues are delicate, you can add some edge by paring them with leather and cooler, darker tones.

Whether it is an icy mint or blush pink, these colors suit any occasion.

A special thank you to Dee Mendoza at the Aventura Macy’s Bobbi Brown for the flawless makeup!

A snow storm up north means a cold front down south. Unlike NYC, Miami’s weather this week has consisted of beautiful sunny skies and tempuratures in the mid and low 60’s; perfect for us (“Miami Natives”) to pull out our winter wear and try some of the season’s latest trends.

Taking advantage of the weather, I channeled my inner New Yorker and pulled out my navy blue, wool duster coat. I decided to pair the duster with pale colors underneath to create a contrast between layers. I wanted to bring out more of the navy blue in this color palette so I added my indigo Celine handbag.

I initially feared that the length of the duster would make me look short but if styled and layered properly, anyone can pull it off, day or night.

IMG_2613If you kept up with New York Fashion Week, you definitely ran into the cape and poncho trend. It was dressed both up and down by many bloggers, editors and socialites. So on this beautiful “winter” day, I wanted to add some chicness to a lazy day-outfit and threw on this neutral Burberry cape.

Depending on the material of your cape and the amount of layers underneath, capes are perfect for both Miami’s and New York’s winter. As you can see, it wasn’t very cold, so I simply wore a black tank top and a skinny jean.

Cape, ponchos and blankets are all very forgiving since they are loose and cover the body. When wearing an oversized top or trench coat, I recommend layering something thin underneath to not add any unnecessary bulk. Wearing a skinny jean or a slim bottom will help contrast the looseness of the poncho.
