IMG_2613If you kept up with New York Fashion Week, you definitely ran into the cape and poncho trend. It was dressed both up and down by many bloggers, editors and socialites. So on this beautiful “winter” day, I wanted to add some chicness to a lazy day-outfit and threw on this neutral Burberry cape.

Depending on the material of your cape and the amount of layers underneath, capes are perfect for both Miami’s and New York’s winter. As you can see, it wasn’t very cold, so I simply wore a black tank top and a skinny jean.

Cape, ponchos and blankets are all very forgiving since they are loose and cover the body. When wearing an oversized top or trench coat, I recommend layering something thin underneath to not add any unnecessary bulk. Wearing a skinny jean or a slim bottom will help contrast the looseness of the poncho.

So my vacation has sadly come to an end. I’ve had an amazing time here in Colombia and I’m finally tan, but I am excited to go home.

Since I was at the beach and on the boat for the majority of the days in Cartagena, taming my wild, curly hair wasn’t easy. If you’re like me, you probably wish you could have a glam squad with you at all times; however, I enjoyed the natural look. I allowed my skin and hair to breathe and take a vacation of their own. I made sure to protect my skin with SPF and load my hair up with coconut oil. The coconut oil increased the health and shine of my hair dramatically. I recommend using it once or twice a month for all hair types, but make sure wash it out with shampoo after.

Now, I love this beach cover up from Forever 21. It’s easy to throw on after getting out of the water. It is minimal coverage; however, it is chic, comfortable and far from vulgar. I am not such a fan of flip-flops, so these nude, plastic flats are a stylish alternative. Since they are plastic, they can get wet and are easy to wash; perfect for any beach, pool or boating event. Lastly, you can’t forget a good pair of sunglasses to protect your eyes and avoid squinting.

Happy New Year to everyone! It’s crazy how fast time is flying and soon before we know it, it will already be 2016. With that being said, my goal is to enjoy and embrace every moment to the fullest, as if it were my last.

This year, my family and I spent the holidays on a farm and disconnected ourselves from the rest of the world. We spent a day in this little community/town, known as “Cauca Viejo,” which is full of houses that have the same construction, however, different accent colors. It was so nice shooting in such a colorful, rustic scenery. On this hot sunny day, I wore a white sheer button down and white sequins shorts. It was a very effortless look that helped me stay cool and chic. I added a minimal pop of color with this side purse and let the colors of the city shine.

If you ever end up in this little town, you have to get a “salpicon con helado”: a fruit salad with a ball of ice cream.. SO GOOD! I’ve gone there many times since I was little and it’s the best. I always get one!

Thank you for all the love and support and stay strong with those new year resolutions.

Carry On Essentials

Since many people are traveling for the holidays, I thought I would share with you my top ten carry on essentials that make flying easier.

Before anything, I highly recommend a comfortable “Mary Poppins” purse where you can fit everything. A Longchamp is the perfect traveling purse.

1. Magazines & Books to keep you entertained while you wait and fly.

2. Headphones so you can listen to music and not have to borrow/buy the airline’s headphones.

3. A Camera so you can photograph memories from beginning to end.

4. A Sweater or Jacket to stay warm and cozy on the flight.

5. Snacks to munch on just incase the flight doesn’t offer food or it just sucks.

6. Sneakers are a must when traveling for me. They are comfortable and easy.

7. A Portable USB Charger so you never run out of battery on the flight.

8. A Big Wallet to carry your passport, money, papers and pen. A pen is always helpful when traveling just incase you need to fill out papers.

9. Sunglasses to cover eye bags after a long flight or to just pop them on when you get in the car.

10. A Cosmetics Bag to carry beauty essentials such as moisturizers to avoid dry skin, wet wipes to clean up a mess, and/or makeup to touch up before landing.

Have a safe flight,

There is nothing like Christmas in Colombia. The people and atmosphere are incomparable: when the sun goes down every house turns on its Christmas lights and I can almost guarantee you that you will hear/see fireworks every half hour.

I landed in Medellin, Colombia late at night when the city was lit up and headed straight to the farm the next morning. There we ate frijoles, a Colombian favorite, fed the horses and milked the cows: very rustic.

I wanted to be comfortable and well dressed to ride Gitana, my Spanish, Andalusian horse (from the pictures), so I wore high leather boots, jeggings, white tee and faux leather jacket. I love wearing leather jackets, especially in the semi cold temperatures. I’ve recently purchased this dark green one that I am wearing today along with a navy blue one. I felt it was perfect to stray away from the all black look and add a minimal touch of color, but still remain neutral.

Happy Holidays everyone!
